According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. at Avenue J and Dale Avenue.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a white Honda was traveling westbound on Avenue J when the pedestrian, a woman whose identity has not yet been released, was crossing southbound in an unmarked crosswalk.

Authorities are still determining whether the driver or pedestrian had the right of way. It is also unclear if alcohol, drugs, or speed contributed to the fatal collision.
