Two people were killed after a fiery crash south of the Waterford area in Stanislaus County on Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 6:40 a.m. at Hickman and Cogswell roads.
First responders arrived to find a 2012 Toyota sedan fully engulfed in flames, and both passengers inside were pronounced dead at the scene. Early findings suggested the Toyota was traveling northbound on Hickman Road north of Cogswell Road when the driver turned right, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. CHP said the front of the car struck a raised concrete irrigation box before catching fire.
Authorities said it was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The identities of the two victims have not been released.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
