The cause of the crash remains under investigation.Two people were injured after a single-vehicle crash in Newport Beach early Sunday morning, November 24, 2024.
According to the Newport Beach Fire Department, the crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Jamboree Road near the Palisades Tennis Club.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV struck and severely damaged two light poles and collided with a tree before coming to a stop in the southbound lanes of the road.
The vehicle’s engine compartment was dislodged and caught fire approximately 20 feet away from the main wreckage. Firefighters extinguished the flames, while one of the front tires was discovered inside the nearby tennis club property.
The driver and passenger managed to self-extricate from the mangled SUV and were found seated on a curb when emergency crews arrived. Both were transported to a hospital in stable condition.
