A 33-year-old motorcyclist, Jose L., was killed in a collision with a big rig on Interstate 215 near Center Street in Riverside on Wednesday afternoon, November 20, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the crowded four-lane corridor.
The rider, traveling at an unconfirmed speed, collided with a big rig, causing his motorcycle to overturn in the fast lane and ejecting him onto the pavement.
Traffic came to a halt following the crash. A trauma surgeon caught in the traffic attempted to provide resuscitative care until paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived. Despite their efforts, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the other party involved in the collision was immediately located.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
