[11-20-2024] Woman Struck and Killed While Crossing Street in Long BeachA woman, identified as 52-year-old Lynnette A. of Long Beach, was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street in Long Beach on Wednesday evening, November 20, 2024. 

Long Beach police responded to the intersection of Centralia Street and Bellflower Boulevard around 6:35 p.m. 

Upon arrival, they found the woman being treated for injuries by fire department personnel. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 65-year-old Lakewood resident was driving a 2014 Jeep Patriot northbound on Bellflower Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian crossing outside of a crosswalk. 

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities do not believe speed, distracted driving, or impairment were factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
