According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Green Valley Road at Amesti Road.

Authorities stated that a 35-year-old man from Freedom was driving a gray 2006 Toyota Camry southbound on Green Valley Road when he struck the pedestrian.

Emergency responders declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The cause of the collision is under investigation. CHP officials stated that drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the incident.
