A 32-year-old man from Yucaipa was killed, and the driver was seriously injured after a rollover crash on Highway 111 in Palm Springs early Saturday morning, November 16, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Highway 111, north of Overture Drive.
Authorities stated that the vehicle, an Acura, was traveling northbound on SR-111 in an unknown lane and at an unknown speed when it veered off the roadway. The vehicle entered the dirt center median and overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.
The passenger, identified as Raulito A., was partially ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment.
Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash, according to CHP investigators.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
