A 30-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Mission Boulevard in Hayward on Saturday night, November 16, 2024.
According to Officer Kylie Musselman with the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:44 p.m. near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and East Lewelling Boulevard.
The woman was walking in a crosswalk when she was hit by a Dodge Caravan driven by a 17-year-old boy. The intersection had fully functioning lights at the time of the collision.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The CHP stated that speed appears to be a contributing factor to the crash.
The investigation continues.
