A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a 2024 Tesla on Highway 138 in Phelan, San Bernardino County, on Tuesday evening, November 12, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 5:36 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the scene located west of the Interstate 15 freeway, near Dusty Lane.
Authorities stated that they found the Tesla pulled over on the right shoulder of the highway, with the pedestrian lying in the roadway. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla’s windshield was heavily damaged, and personal belongings, including a shoe and clothing, were scattered across the road. The driver of the Tesla was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries.
California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of the incident, and the San Bernardino County Coroner will release the pedestrian’s identity once the next of kin have been notified.
