[11-12-2024] Passenger Killed After High-Speed Crash on Sycamore Canyon BoulevardA passenger was killed following a high-speed crash in Riverside on Tuesday evening, November 12, 2024.

Riverside Police officers were dispatched to a collision at Sycamore Canyon Boulevard and Cottonwood Avenue at approximately 6:15 p.m. 

Upon arrival, they found two people trapped inside a 2017 Nissan 370Z, a two-seater sports car, according to Sgt. Emilio Angulo of the Riverside Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.

Investigators believe the 29-year-old driver was speeding southbound on Sycamore Canyon Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a tree.

Both occupants, who were Moreno Valley residents, were extricated from the wreckage and transported to a hospital. The passenger was later pronounced dead, while the driver was reported to be in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a role.
