A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 5 near Los Banos on Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2024.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the collision, which occurred just south of State Route 33 at about 4:50 p.m.
According to preliminary investigations, a 24-year-old man from Norwalk was driving a 2014 Audi southbound on I-5 at approximately 70 mph in the number one lane. Meanwhile, a man believed to be from Santa Nella was walking eastbound within the southbound lanes.
Despite the driver’s attempt to swerve and avoid a collision, the front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing fatal injuries.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
