A driver sustained significant injuries in a two-car crash on southbound Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore on Monday morning, November 4, 2024.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Lassig, the collision occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. involving a black Infiniti Q60 and a white Toyota Camry, south of Main Street.
Preliminary investigations indicate that speed was a factor in the crash, while alcohol is not suspected. Officer Lassig reported that the Infiniti may have made an unsafe lane change, resulting in a collision with the Camry. This caused the Camry to spin out into the center divider, where it struck a wall and came to rest on its wheels.
The Infiniti, after leaving the roadway, collided with a eucalyptus tree and a fence before rolling onto its roof and skidding into two parked cars on private property.
The driver of the Infiniti, a 33-year-old man from Wildomar, was trapped inside the vehicle and required extrication by Cal Fire firefighters. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Inland Valley Hospital with significant injuries.
California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
