A 32-year-old man from Lockwood was killed following a head-on collision on Monte Road in Monterey County on Monday afternoon, November 4, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that around 12:30 p.m., a red pickup truck was traveling northbound on Monte Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered left, colliding head-on with a southbound white pickup truck. The red truck went over the guardrail and plunged into the Salinas River.
CHP officers confirmed that the driver of the red pickup died at the scene. Emergency responders remained on-site as the investigation continued.
Further details have yet to be released as authorities work to determine the cause of the collision.
