A motorist was killed in a crash on Highway 101 northbound near Castillo Street in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning, November 1, 2025.
The crash occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. under foggy conditions, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A silver sedan overturned and came to a stop near the bushes on the shoulder, just past the Castillo off-ramp.
The victim, who was ejected from the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene. The man was lying in the roadway when several vehicles ran over him, according to fire Battalion Chief Brandon Paige.
Two other vehicles then collided. Their occupants sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment, Paige said.
The man’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The investigation is ongoing.
