A 3-year-old child was struck and killed by a vehicle in Fremont on Monday morning, October 28, 2024.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. in the area of Dunsmuir Common and Colleen Terrace, according to the Fremont Police Department.
First responders arrived on the scene and provided life-saving aid to the child, but unfortunately, the child died at the scene.
Police investigations revealed that the driver was pulling out of a parking space when the child unexpectedly moved in front of the vehicle, resulting in the child being struck by the front left side of the car.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Authorities noted that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The victim has not yet been identified.
The investigation is ongoing.
