A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in San Jacinto on Sunday morning, October 27, 2024.
The incident occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Meridian Street, just south of Beringer Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim, identified only as a San Jacinto resident, was attempting to cross Meridian when she was hit by a dark-colored SUV. The vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene southbound on Meridian.
The impact threw the victim onto the shoulder of the roadway, where several good Samaritans provided assistance until paramedics arrived. She was transported to a regional trauma center, where she remains in intensive care.
The SUV involved in the incident is described as a compact, dark box-style vehicle. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the San Jacinto sheriff’s station at (951) 766-2366.
