A man in his 30s was killed in a wrong-way crash on eastbound State Route 76 in Oceanside on Saturday night, October 26, 2024.
According to the Oceanside Police Department, the incident occurred just west of Melrose Drive around 9:26 p.m.
Authorities stated that the man was driving a tan Buick Century in the wrong direction when he collided with a white Honda Clarity driven by 20-year-old Oceanside resident Stephanie Z. The unidentified man suffered major injuries and succumbed to those injuries at 9:31 p.m.
Stephanie Z. sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Palomar Hospital in Escondido for treatment. Police suspect that alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to the fatal collision.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting an investigation.
