According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the 5400 block of University Avenue. The boy was crossing the street mid-block when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

Officer Jose Parales said the boy was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died. The vehicle involved was last seen heading northbound on 54th Street.

The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is leading the investigation.
