[10-24-2026] Kern County, CA – Two Killed in Rollover Crash Near Shafter

Two men were killed in a rollover crash near Shafter in Kern County, early Saturday morning, October 24, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded at around 1:32 a.m. to Lerdo Highway, west of Scaroni Avenue.

A preliminary investigation found that a man was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound when the pickup left the north edge of the roadway and went out of control.

The Chevrolet overturned on the north shoulder, ejecting the driver and his male passenger. Both occupants and the pickup came to rest north of Lerdo Highway, west of Scaroni Avenue.

CHP said neither man was wearing a seat belt. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
