A 100- or 101-year-old man died, and another driver was hospitalized after a head-on collision on E. Mission Road near Fallen Leaf Lane in San Diego County, on Friday evening, October 24, 2025.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jeffrey Pedersen, the crash occurred around 6:41 p.m. and involved a black SUV and a silver SUV. Emergency crews arrived to find both vehicles with major front-end damage and airbags deployed.
Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. The elderly man later succumbed to his injuries, while the woman driving the other vehicle was treated in the emergency room, according to her social media post.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP. It is not yet known whether a medical emergency was a factor in the collision.
