The incident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. on South Lammers Road. According to the Tracy Police Department, the student was on foot when a vehicle struck him. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Northbound lanes of South Lammers Road near the school were temporarily closed as officers investigated the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
