A 13-year-old girl was injured, and a 19-year-old woman was arrested following a hit-and-run crash near Mossdale Elementary School in Lathrop on Friday morning, October 17, 2025.
According to the Lathrop Police Department, officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run around 7:43 a.m. Police said the girl was using the crosswalk when she was struck by a car. The driver did not stop or slow down and fled the scene.
Authorities said the left side of the girl’s body and her foot were sore after being hit. She did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Through the help of community witnesses, residential security footage, and surveillance technology, officers identified the suspect, who later admitted to being involved in the hit-and-run. Police said the woman also admitted to being unlicensed and uninsured.
The 19-year-old was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for felony hit-and-run. The police thanked community members for their assistance and reminded drivers to slow down, stay alert, and watch for children crossing the road.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
