[10-14-2024] Two Injured After Two-Vehicle Collision Involving Stolen Car in MercedA 17-year-old faces charges after allegedly stealing and crashing his parents’ car, injuring himself and another driver in Merced, on Monday afternoon, October 14, 2024.

According to the Merced Police Department, the teen stole the vehicle, which was later spotted near a school. 

When officers attempted to contact the driver, the juvenile fled, reaching speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit concluded when the vehicle collided with another car occupied by a woman.

As a result of the crash, the 17-year-old sustained moderate injuries and is currently receiving treatment, while the woman in the other vehicle suffered major injuries but is expected to recover. 

Once medically cleared, the juvenile will face multiple charges related to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
