A Marysville woman was killed, and another driver was injured in a wrong-way crash on Highway 99 in Sutter County early Sunday morning, October 13, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. when the 25-year-old woman was driving a Chrysler Pacifica south in the northbound lanes near Highway 70.
About a minute later, the Chrysler collided with a GMC Denali along Highway 99, south of Howsley Road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the Chrysler driver was pronounced dead. The 46-year-old male driver of the GMC was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and it remains unclear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
