A 60-year-old woman, identified as Christina B., was killed in a hit-and-run collision while riding her scooter in Cathedral City early Friday morning, October 11, 2024.
According to the Cathedral City Police Department, officers responded to a report at 12:46 a.m. of a woman “down in the roadway” near the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Bankside Drive.
Upon arrival, they found Barrington with severe injuries, and her scooter was located over a quarter of a mile away from the accident site.
Paramedics transported Barrington to Desert Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on Saturday.
Investigators believe that Barrington was riding her scooter eastbound on East Palm Canyon Drive when a vehicle struck her from behind, dragging the scooter a significant distance while fleeing the scene.
On Monday, traffic investigators located a suspect and the vehicle involved in Rancho Mirage. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
