Seven people, including three children, were hospitalized after a GMC SUV rolled over and struck a pole on Highway 101 north of Soledad in Monterey County, on Thursday evening, October 9, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. The black GMC SUV, driven by a woman from Gonzales, went off the road for unknown reasons, rolled over, and collided with a pole. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels.
All occupants were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One occupant was pinned and had to be extricated by the Soledad Fire Department. Medical transport included AMR, CalStar, and Mercy 34 helicopters.
The driver suffered major injuries, while other passengers, including two male adults, one female adult, and three children, were evaluated for complaints of pain.
CHP reported that DUI was not a factor in the crash.
