A 46-year-old woman was fatally struck on El Toro Road south of the 73 Toll Road overpass in Laguna Beach on Wednesday evening, October 8, 2025.
According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, officers responded just after 7:00 p.m. First responders transported the woman to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.
Police reported that investigators suspect the woman was previously driving a U-Haul truck involved in a hit-and-run crash earlier in Rancho Mission Viejo. After exiting the truck and walking inbound on El Toro Road, she was struck by another vehicle.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the fatal collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
