[10-05-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-680 in San Jose

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash while walking on Interstate 680 in San Jose late Monday night, October 5, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 11:00 p.m. on the southbound I-680 just north of North Capitol Avenue.

CHP officers arrived and found the woman lying across the No. 2 and No. 3 traffic lanes. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the woman was in the southbound lanes when an unknown vehicle struck her. The driver left the scene following the collision.

The woman’s identity was not immediately released. CHP said it was unknown whether alcohol or drug impairment was a factor in the crash.

CHP continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run.
