[10-04-2026] Kern County, CA – Girl Riding Electric Scooter Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle in Bakersfield.webpA girl riding an electric scooter was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon, October 4, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the incident at around 4:21 p.m. on Airport Drive at El Tejon Avenue.

CHP said a 34-year-old man was driving a 2007 Kia Rio northbound on Airport Drive when the girl entered the roadway within a marked crosswalk at a designated pedestrian crossing.

The front of the Kia struck the girl, causing severe injuries. Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.

CHP continues to investigate the fatal crash.
