A man was found dead in Santa Fe Springs on Wednesday night, October 2, 2024, and is believed to be a hit-and-run victim.

Officers responded to the 9900 block of Cedardale Drive around 9:00 p.m. following reports of a man lying in the driveway entrance to the San Gabriel River Trail.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with a serious injury to his chest and several abrasions on his body. Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene. The man was identified as 49-year-old Raymond L., who lived in the riverbed.

Due to the nature of the victim’s injuries, investigators suspect that a hit-and-run traffic collision occurred. Currently, there is no description of the vehicle or the driver involved.

The investigation is ongoing.
