A 50-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Castro Valley, Alameda County, on Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at around 1:29 p.m. near Somerset and Anita Avenues in a residential area near Our Lady of Grace Catholic School.
CHP said the pedestrian was in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. Authorities confirmed that the man died following the collision.
CHP and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to investigate the incident. Authorities are searching for the driver and the vehicle involved. A description of the driver or suspect vehicle was not immediately available.
The hit-and-run collision remains under investigation.
