One person was killed and two others were injured in a traffic collision involving a wrong-way driver in West Covina on Monday evening, September 30, 2024.
According to West Covina police, multiple 911 calls were received around 7:47 p.m. regarding a wrong-way traffic collision at South Azusa Avenue and East Greenville Drive.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene, where one person was pronounced deceased. Two others were transported to a local hospital in unknown conditions.
A neighbor, who declined to speak on camera, reported that the SUV was traveling the wrong way and caused the head-on crash.
As a result of the investigation, West Covina PD closed both north and southbound lanes of Azusa Avenue.
The investigation is ongoing.
