[09-29-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Caltrans Worker Injured After Being Struck by Tesla in San Jose

A Caltrans worker was injured after being struck by a Tesla on Interstate 680 in San Jose on Tuesday morning, September 29, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, emergency crews responded shortly before 10:00 a.m. to the northbound I-680 on-ramp from McKee Road.

Initial reports indicated that a white Tesla went off the right shoulder of the freeway and struck a Caltrans worker. The Tesla came to rest facing the wrong direction on the shoulder, missing a tire.

The worker’s condition and the extent of the injuries were not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
