Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating a death involving a person who was struck and killed by construction equipment in Newhall, Santa Clarita, on Friday afternoon, September 27, 2024.
Officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station blocked off the area at 24400 Arcadia Street after deputies were called to the scene around 12:50 p.m., according to Sgt. Justin Boosalis of the Sheriff’s Station. He referred all inquiries to the Homicide Bureau for further information.
Homicide Detective Mark Farino confirmed that the death is currently being treated as an accident. He added that the investigation is active, but no arrests have been made at this time.
The victim is believed to have been struck by equipment being used to pave the street, although officials have not determined the cause of the accident.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the medical examiner, pending notification of the next of kin.
