[09-27-2024] 61-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Truck on Highway 178A 61-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a truck along Highway 178 in Mountain Mesa, Kern County, on Friday afternoon, September 27, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just after 5:00 p.m. west of McCray Road. 

CHP reports that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Highway 178, while the truck driver was stopped at a stop sign, preparing to make a westbound turn onto the highway from McCray Road. The motorcycle and truck collided during the turn.

Authorities stated that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
