[09-24-2026] Contra Costa County, CA – 65-Year-Old Man Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle in Richmond

A 65-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Richmond High School in Contra Costa County on Thursday morning, September 24, 2026.

According to the Richmond Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Maricopa Avenue and 23rd Street.

Officers arrived and found the pedestrian suffering from severe trauma. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A family member identified the victim as Douglas V., a retired dentist from San Francisco. The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
