A 5-year-old boy died after falling out of an SUV driven by his mother and being run over in a gym parking lot in Industry on Friday evening, September 20, 2024.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of UFC Gym, located at 17638 Castleton St., and was reported to sheriff’s deputies at 6:18 p.m.
According to the authorities, the boy, who was sitting in the back, was not secured in a car seat when one of the SUV’s doors unexpectedly opened, sheriff’s Sgt. Ramon Chavez stated.
The boy was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner’s office had not identified the child as of Monday morning.
The circumstances surrounding how the door was opened are still under investigation.
