[09-20-2023] San Diego County, CA – 2 People Killed, Dog Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Collision in Pala

Two people were killed and a dog was injured after the collision of multiple unspecified vehicles in Pala, San Diego County, on Wednesday morning, September 20, 2023.

According to the California Department of Transportation, the incident occurred just after midnight on State Route 76 East near Pala Mission Road.

Authorities stated that, besides the two fatalities, the San Diego Humane Society was dispatched to the scene to help extricate the male pitbull trapped in the wreckage. The dog was transported to Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Marcos for evaluation.

No further information was released regarding the collision. An investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the crash and what events led up to it.
