[09-16-2026] Kern County, CA – 15-Year-Old Mini-Bike Rider Killed in Collision With Vehicle in Shafter

A 15-year-old died after a collision involving a vehicle and a mini-bike-style motorcycle in Shafter, Kern County, on Wednesday night, September 16, 2026.

According to the Shafter Police Department, officers responded at around 9:05 p.m. to the intersection of South Shafter Avenue and West Riverside Street.

Assistant Chief of Police Brian Knox said the 15-year-old was riding the mini-bike when the collision occurred. The teen died following the crash.

Authorities did not provide additional details about the vehicle involved or the circumstances leading to the collision.

As of Thursday, police said alcohol and drugs were not believed to have been factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
