44-year-old man was struck and killed by a passing motorist near an on-ramp for the eastbound Capital City Freeway in Sacramento on Monday morning, September 16, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal hit-and-run occurred as the man was standing near the on-ramp at southbound Watt Avenue, near Auburn Boulevard.

The driver was traveling south on Watt Avenue and was preparing to enter the eastbound freeway on-ramp when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

The driver did not stop and is still being sought by authorities. The vehicle involved is possibly a 2012-2015 Toyota Camry.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
