[09-16-2023] San Diego County, CA – Four People, Including Children Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash in El Cajon

At least four people were injured after a two-vehicle crash in El Cajon on Saturday morning, September 16, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash incident reports along State Route 94 westbound lanes near College Avenue around 9:45 a.m.

According to the CHP, the accident occurred when a 33-year-old woman, traveling in her Toyota Camry with her 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter, swerved into the lane and path of the 43-year-old 2013 Dodge Challenger driver.

Both vehicles came into contact and lost control, sending them off the freeway and into College Avenue’s on-ramp for SR-94 West.

The Toyota rolled over in the process, causing the two children to be thrown off the vehicle and sustained major but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers stated that the children were not wearing seatbelts at the time.

The family of three and the Dodge driver were immediately rushed to the hospital. However, the extent of the injuries sustained by the drivers was not specified by authorities.

It was not indicated whether any impairment, drugs, or alcohol were possible factors of the incident, but investigations are being carried out.
