[09-15-2023] 44-Year-Old Man & 8-Year-Old Girl Injured After Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash in FullertonA 44-year-old man and his 8-year-old female passenger were injured after a two-vehicle head-on crash in Fullerton on Friday night, September 15, 2023.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, the incident occurred near Richman Avenue and Orangethorpe Avenue around 9:00 p.m.

FPD police responded to a traffic collision involving a 2006 Honda Civic driven by a 28-year-old Fullerton man and a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder occupied by the 44-year-old and the young girl.

Authorities stated that the Honda was traveling at high speeds when it swerved into the opposite lane to avoid rear-ending the vehicle in front of it. However, the Honda could not avoid the incoming Nissan, resulting in a head-on collision. Both vehicles sustained severe front-end damage.

The Nissan driver and the young girl sustained minor injuries in the crash. The Honda driver was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

No further information was released regarding the two victims’ identities or why the 28-year-old man was speeding, pending an investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, despite a decrease of 0.3% in accidents from 2021, the numbers are still around the 40,000s, with 42,795 total fatalities by 2022.
