[09-13-2026] Orange County, CA – Two Killed After Fiery McLaren Crash in Irvine.webpTwo people were killed after a McLaren crashed into a tree and caught fire in Irvine early Sunday morning, September 13, 2026.

According to the Irvine Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue.

Police said the driver accelerated after the traffic signal turned green, lost control of the McLaren, went over a curb, and struck a tree.

The impact caused the vehicle to split into pieces and catch fire, trapping the driver and passenger inside. First responders extinguished the flames, but both occupants were found dead inside the vehicle.

Relatives identified one of the people killed as James Wehr, who co-founded South OC Cars and Coffee in San Clemente with his father, Simon. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the second person.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw the McLaren before the crash or has additional information about the incident to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing.
