[09-12-2026] San Diego County, CA – One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway in Encinitas

A person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the San Diego (5) Freeway in Encinitas early Saturday morning, September 12, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 3:00 a.m. on the northbound freeway, just north of Leucadia Boulevard.

The CHP reported that at least three vehicles were involved, including a black SUV, a Nissan Sentra, and a Honda Civic.

No additional information about the circumstances of the crash or the identity of the person killed was immediately available.
