[09-11-2025] Nine-Vehicle Crash Causes Major Traffic Delays on Northbound Highway 101 Near Rocks RoadA multi-vehicle crash involving nine vehicles blocked northbound Highway 101 near Rocks Road in San Benito County on Thursday morning, September 11, 2025.

According to CAL FIRE San Benito-Monterey Unit, crews were dispatched to the scene at 6:33 a.m. No injuries were reported, but the crash caused significant traffic backups on both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 101.

A SigAlert was issued for the area, and the No. 1 lane on the southbound side was opened to allow vehicles to pass. All vehicles involved were moved to the shoulder of Rocks Road, and the northbound lanes were reopened by 9:15 a.m.

Caltrans announced plans to implement a new traffic pattern on Highway 101 at Rocks and Cannon roads starting Friday night, which will include the closure of the median opening and elimination of all through and left turns for vehicles.
