Two women were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Rancho Peñasquitos, San Diego on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. in the 8500 block of Rumex Lane.
An 18-year-old woman driving a 2015 Honda Fit made a turn onto westbound Park Village Road and collided with two women, both in their 60s, who were in a crosswalk walking from north to south.
One of the victims sustained multiple severe injuries, including brain bleeds, a skull fracture, a left collarbone fracture, multiple left rib fractures, bilateral lung contusions, a bruised left hip, and a scalp laceration. Her injuries are considered life-threatening.
The other victim sustained a minor brain bleed, a right humorous fracture, and abrasions to her knees. She is expected to recover.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured, and DUI was not a factor, police said.
