[09-10-2026] Fresno County, CA – Pedestrian in Wheelchair Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle on West Ave.

A pedestrian using a wheelchair was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Thursday night, September 10, 2026.

According to the Fresno Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on West Avenue near Shields Avenue.

Fresno Police Lt. Justin Hoagland said the pedestrian was attempting to cross West Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment. Authorities said the victim remained in critical condition.

Hoagland said there were no indications that alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

Additional information about the driver and the circumstances surrounding the crash was not immediately available. 

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
