[09-10-2024] DUI Hit-And-Run Crash Leads to Death of Woman in CarlsbadA 23-year-old woman was killed after a hit-and-run crash in Carlsbad early Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department, the collision occurred around 12:37 a.m. in the 2200 block of Las Palmas Drive. 

Officers found that a Volkswagen Jetta had collided with three parked vehicles and a woman who had just exited her car. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Volkswagen fled.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Jose C., was later located and arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, DUI causing injury or death, and vehicular manslaughter. He has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

The victim’s identity was not released until the next of kin/family was notified.
