An Acura driver suffered major injuries in a collision with a gravel truck on Highway 33 near Coalinga in Fresno County on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. at Highway 33 and Coalinga-Mendota Road.
CHP’s preliminary investigation indicated that the Acura entered the opposing traffic lane and collided with a northbound truck tractor pulling two gravel trailers. The impact caused the truck and both trailers to overturn.
The Acura driver sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Coalinga Regional Medical Center. CHP said neither driver’s injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
