[09-08-2026] San Francisco County, CA – Woman Critically Injured in Dog Attack on Larkin St.webpA woman was critically injured after being attacked by a large dog in San Francisco’s Little Saigon neighborhood on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, the attack occurred in the 500 block of Larkin Street between Eddy and Turk streets.

Responding police officers separated the woman from the dog and prevented the animal from attacking anyone else. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was last reported to be in critical condition.

Following the incident, the dog collapsed and died at the scene before animal control officers arrived. San Francisco Animal Care & Control subsequently took possession of the animal’s remains.

Animal Care & Control officials are investigating whether the dog had a pre-existing medical condition or may have ingested a substance that could help explain its behavior and subsequent death. No determination has been announced.
